BOISE, Idaho — Overlooking the heart of the City of Trees is a structure that was dubbed "the most beautiful structure of its kind in the West" when it was built nearly a century ago. In preparation for the 100th anniversary, a birthday party is in the works to celebrate a "train full" worth of memories.
The City of Boise announced on Tuesday that the Boise Depot, which opened to the public on April 16, 1925, has officially turned 99 years old. While a celebration was on Sunday, city officials are looking a year into the future and have started planning a party a century in the making.
"While it is no longer operational as a train depot, the beautiful Spanish-style structure is now operated by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department, serving as a historic setting for weddings, receptions, corporate and community events and so much more," the city's website states.
While the party is in its early stages, city officials said they will work with other departments to create a host of events, which are expected to begin on April 12 and run through April 16. The city also mentions that a call to the artists may be announced.
