BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Foodbank distributes more than a million meals each month; and despite the obvious need, the foodbank says that donations typically decrease each spring.
In an effort to help combat food insecurity in Idaho, Southwest Idaho companies participated in an annual event to raise money and gather food donations.
The Idaho Foodbank announced in a news release on Thursday that its 8th annual Million Meals in March Corporate Challenge concluded with the 12 participating companies having donated over 1,000 pounds of food, made possible by volunteers who worked a collective 250 hours.
"We appreciate these companies and their employees who participated in Million Meals in March to help our neighbors in need," said Randy Ford, President and CEO of The Idaho Foodbank. "Too many Idahoans are facing food insecurity and this community support throughout the year makes a positive impact."
The Idaho Foodbank said the event fosters friendly competition among the companies as they try to raise the most food. For an extra competitive edge and a bit of entertainment, volunteers built structures from canned foods.
According to the news release, Colliers won the large company bracket and HC Company won the medium company bracket.
Here is a list of the participating companies:
- Boise Hawks
- KPFF
- Commercial Tire
- ZGA
- Hawley Troxell
- CRCA
- P1FCU
- HC Company
- Colliers
- Clearwater Analytics
