Coroner identifies Star man killed in motorcycle crash

The Ada County Coroner's Office on Wednesday identified the 56-year-old who died following a collision between a motorcycle and passenger car Monday in Star.

BOISE, Idaho — A 56-year-old man who died Monday following a collision between a motorcycle and passenger car was identified on Wednesday by the Ada County Coroner's Office

George Simitzes of Star died from traumatic blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to a news release from the coroner. The crash occurred near West State Street and North Knox Avenue in Star around 6:45 p.m. Monday.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office said Simitzes was driving east on the motorcycle when he lost control, went into the opposite lane and collided with the oncoming vehicle. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but they were unsuccessful.

All four people in the passenger car, driven by a 66-year-old woman with three minors, were not injured in the collision, the sheriff's office said.

Detectives with the Ada County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash.
