April Fools' Day: Idaho organizations celebrate the day of jokes

On Monday, Idaho law enforcement and officials across the state posted fun jokes and harmless pranks in honor of April Fools' Day.

BOISE, Idaho — After the celebration of Easter Sunday, some Idaho organizations are continuing holiday cheer with the day of jokes.

April Fools' Day is an annual holiday held on April 1. Idaho law enforcement and organizations across the state had a laugh and posted on social media new AI-generated patrol cars, animals joining the force and sightings of Bigfoot.

KTVB compiled a list of some of the April Fool's jokes, which made us laugh.

Boise Police Department:

Starting today, April 1, 2024, the Boise Police Department is implementing a brand new traffic initiative! Chief Ron Winegar has graciously volunteered to fill our newest role as the speed limit sign spinner. Until he retires, you can catch him around town doing his best to remind drivers to slow down. If you’re confused, look at the date. This is obviously joke, but speeding isn’t. Slow down! Happy April Fools Day Boise!

Nampa Police Department:

B I G news, Nampa! Help us welcome our new Community Outreach Animal. We can’t wait for you to meet our gentle giant! We were willing to stick our necks out, we went to great heights, and in the long run, we think we did a stand-up job to FINALLY convince Chief Huff that a community outreach animal was a good idea! We searched HIGH and low for the right fit, and we think we’ve found him! 🦒 Our new friend is really going to stand out next to the mini horse at the Caldwell Police Department, Boise Police Department’s wellness K-9 and that dog mascot at Meridian Police Department - Idaho. We plan on a community competition to name him in the very near future and he’s going to start attending our community events right away. More details coming soon! #Teamwork #Community #FunAtWork #NeckandNeck #HeadandShouldersAboveTheRest #HesAStandUpGuy #SearchedHighandLow #HesNoMiniHorse #HowAboutAWellnessGiraffe #EyetoEye #YouCanBetGiraffe #WeAreNampa
