Two charged, arrested after leading police on a multi-county chase ending in Eagle

Ada County Sheriff's Office said the chase started in Boise County north of Horseshoe Bend, continued into Ada County on SH55, and ended in Eagle

BOISE, Idaho — Police arrested two people after one of them led law enforcement on a multi-county car chase on State Highway 55 on Wednesday.

According to the Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO), the chase started in Boise County north of Horseshoe Bend, continued into Ada County on SH55, and ended in Eagle. 

Around 2:28 p.m., ACSO said it received a request from the Boise County Sheriff's Office to assist in a chase.

Police said the driver was a threat to public safety because "The suspect vehicle reached speeds in excess of 70mph, attempted to ram multiple citizens' vehicles, and drove into oncoming traffic." 

ACSO said Eagle police were able to stop the vehicle in Eagle, and police arrested two people.

The driver, identified by police as Charles Burke, was charged with multiple felonies in the incident, including Fleeing and Eluding, Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, Aggravated Assault and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Burke also faces a misdemeanor of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

ACSO revealed Burke had existing arrest warrants on fleeing and drug charges. 

His passenger, Kimberly Espy was charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, police said. 

Both were taken to the Ada County Jail on their charges.
