Suspect identified in Canyon County shooting on Wednesday

Canyon County Sheriff's Office has identified Gabriel Francisco Meza, and believe him to be armed and dangerous.

CALDWELL, Idaho — Canyon County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) has identified the suspect in the shooting that happened early Wednesday morning, south of Caldwell, that left one man in critical condition. 

Police have identified him as Gabriel Francisco Meza. He is 34-years-old, and is roughly 5 ft 6 in tall, weighing 175 lbs. Meza has multiple tattoos on his neck, wrists and hands, according to police. 

According to a news release on Wednesday, CCSO officers responded to reports of shots fired south of Caldwell on Wednesday morning at roughly 7:15 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was brought to the hospital and remains in critical condition. Though police believe this to be an isolated incident, police are searching for Meza and believe him to be armed and dangerous.

Meza is currently wanted on a felony warrant for aggravated battery in connection with the shooting on Wednesday morning. The warrant has a $1 million bond. 

If anyone comes in contact with Meza, do not approach him. Instead, call 911 or Canyon County Dispatch at (208) 454-7531. 

Anyone with information that can help detectives locate Meza is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (208) 343-COPS.
