BOISE, Idaho — Spanish speakers will be able to learn about avalanche safety in their native language as an Idaho organization will host a training on March 12 in Sun Valley.

The Friends of Sawtooth Avalanche Center (FSAC) told KTVB over an email that their mission is to promote life-saving avalanche safety and education for all communities who live in Idaho. So, they wanted to create a Spanish-only avalanche training to make it more accessible.

“Spanish speakers comprise a significant percentage of these communities, and they deserve access to this potentially life-saving information,” FSAC said.

FSAC said the presentation will cover over the basics of snow, avalanches and traveling near areas which are prone to avalanches.

The event will be free to the public and will be held at the Sun Valley Inn, and residents don’t have to pre-register to attend the event. FSAC said those who attend will be placed into a raffle.
