Boise man sentenced for running over woman with car

Marion Nikichimus was sentenced to 20 years in prison for hitting and killing Elizabeth Sorg with his car.

BOISE, Idaho — Boise man Marion Nikichimus, 24, was sentenced to prison for the second-degree murder of 37-year-old Elizabeth Sorg in June 2023.

Nikichimus was sentenced Friday, Mar. 1, to 20 years in prison, with life indeterminate by Ada County District Judge Steven Hippler for hitting Sorg with his vehicle and killing her. During sentencing, Judge Hippler said Nikichimus needs to be supervised indefinitely.

"He has shown that the community is not safe with him in it at this time and for a long time," Hippler said.

Nikichimus drove drunk to a Boise apartment complex in June of 2023. When he arrived, residents of the complex noticed "bizarre" behavior and confronted him, according to a news release from the Ada County Prosecutor's Office.

After the confrontation, Nikichimus got back into his vehicle, intentionally hit a man, turned his vehicle around and struck Sorg, killing her at the scene, the release stated.

Nikichimus pled guilty to second-degree murder in November 2023.

"On behalf of my office, I extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Sorg's family for this senseless crime," said Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. "I want to thank the Boise Police Department detectives as well as my trial team for their hard work on this case. Judge Hippler's sentence ensures the community is safer."
