MERIDIAN, Idaho — Durham School Services (DSS) will begin servicing Idaho's largest school district, West Ada School District (WASD), beginning in the fall of 2024.
Prior to the five-year contract WASD signed with Durham, the school district was under contract with Cascade Student Transportation as its bus service provider.
DSS will cover 200 bus routes, operated by a team of 260 drivers and school bus monitors, according to a news release from West Ada School District.
"The West Ada School District represents the largest educational institution in Idaho, and we are immensely grateful for the opportunity to showcase our century-old legacy of delivering safe, top-tier service. Our goal is to assemble a reliable, safety-conscious team dedicated to ensuring every student's safe and punctual arrival to school," said Superintendent Dr. Derek Bub.
The district stated that each school bus will have safety additions, such as DriveCam, Zonar, Stop Arms and the Seon camera system.
Durham School Services scored a five-year contract with the Boise School District in 2020. West Ada is Idaho's largest school district with roughly 40,000 students and 5,000 staff members. It consists of 58 public schools in Eagle, Star, Meridian and Boise.
"The introduction of Durham School Services to the West Ada School District is a positive development for our community," said West Ada Chief Operations Officer Dr. Dave Reinhart.
