Omoiyari (pronounced Oh-Mo-Ya-Tee) is the latest album from singer and musician Kishi Bashi. Omoiyari is also a songfilm, which he describes is the intersection of music and movie documentary. ‘I visited multiple Japanese internment camps in the country’ says Bashi. He used his experience as his inspiration for the documentary and the score he wrote for it. As a part of the 2024 Day of Remembrance, Kishi Bashi will be sharing his songfilm at the Egyptian Theater in Downtown Boise on February 19th, accompanied by a full quartet. ‘Its important that we honor the day of remembrance so we don’t repeat it for other marginalized people’ says Bashi.
