The Owyhee County Sheriff's Office said it recovered around 100 grams of "suspected" fentanyl.

BOISE, Idaho — A man is in custody after a drug operation at a Grandview home revealed a "significant amount" of dangerous drugs.

The Owyhee County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) posted to social media on Monday, Feb. 12 that deputies had performed a search warrant over the weeked at a home on 420 Riverside Ave.  Louis Rodriguez was arrested after police found fentanyl and meth.

OCSO said it sized around 100 grams of "suspected" fentanyl and 25 grams of meth.

"[The amount] represents a potentially devastating impact on our community if these drugs had made it to our streets," the office stated.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) website, two milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal depending on a person's body size and past usage. They also stated it has seen an increase in fentanyl being mixed with other drugs.

"42% of pills tested for fentanyl contained at least 2 mg of fentanyl, considered a potentially lethal dose," the website stated.

OCSO said Rodriguez is being held at the Elmore County Sheriff's Office.

The charges he is facing are listed below:

  • Possession of a controlled substance - Schedule 2
  • Controlled substance delivery
  • Forgery of checks, notes, and bills possession
  • Drug paraphernalia use or possession
