Light Up the Night celebration returns to Brundage on New Year's Eve

The free event kicks off 2024 on Sunday with a slope-side fireworks show, torchlight parade, glowstick walking parade for kids and more.

BOISE, Idaho — Brundage Mountain Resort is set to host its 12th annual Light Up the Night celebration on New Year's Eve, inviting Idahoans to kick off the new year with a variety of family-friendly events.

The free event on Sunday, Dec. 31, includes a torchlight parade, slope-side fireworks show, glowstick walking parade for kids and more. The fireworks show lights up Brundage's base area and is considered the highlight of the celebration.

Festivities get underway with the 'Aglow On the Snow Parade,' where kids walk with glowsticks and foam wands at the mountain resort. Brundage said kids – who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian – will meet inside the Mountain Sport School facility of the MAC building by 5:15 p.m.

With nearly 300 LED foam wands and more than 2,000 glowsticks, the parade will move to Smoky's, then to the decks, and wrap up at the fireworks show viewing area. To register for the kids parade, click here.

Meanwhile, advanced skiers and snowboarders aged 16 or older can participate in the torchlight parade to glow Brundage in color ahead of the fireworks Sunday night. Those hoping to participate in the torchlight parade must fill out a waiver to pre-register, which can be done by clicking here

Brundage Mountain Resort said torchlight parade participants must wear goggles or eye protection in case of any potential sparks. Those registered will meet at the base of the Bluebird Lift before 5:15 p.m. Sunday. Brundage recommends wearing clear or light-colored lenses during the parade.

Fire pits, food and beverages will be available in the base area for spectators at Brundage. The resort said its light shows will begin between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Smoky's, Main Street Cafe and the Upper Lot will be open during the celebration.

The main event in the 12th annual fireworks show will ring in the new year around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, following the torchlight parade. Brundage reminds all visitors to dress appropriately for winter weather conditions during the Light Up the Night celebration.

For New Year's Eve, the Brundage Blue Line Express will add two more loops. The shuttle will leave the post office at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. It will leave Brundage at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday.
