First responders to shine lights for kids at St. Luke's in Boise

First responders will come to the hospital and shine their lights to show support for patients Thursday evening.

BOISE, Idaho — A conglomerate of Treasure Valley first responders will gather at St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise Thursday evening to shine their lights in support of the patients this holiday season.

To make the holidays merry and bright, Boise Police, Boise Fire, Meridian Police, Meridian Fire, the Ada County Sheriff's Office and additional agencies will have firetrucks, police cars and other emergency vehicles turn on their lights to give a show to the children within the hospital just in time for Christmas.

Patients are invited to watch from windows and the sky bridge, with their provided glowsticks so they can wave back to the first responders. The event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday.

There will be a traffic advisory for the area, as the vehicles come in and out.

The Boise Police Department expects traffic on East Jefferson Street and Avenue B to be impacted from roughly 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Thursday. There will be traffic officers in the area to direct vehicles.

Other agencies set to shine a light include Air St. Luke's, Nampa Police, Caldwell Police, Ada County Paramedics, Idaho State Police, Idaho Air National Guard, Mountain Home Air Force Base and Garden City Police.
