The U.S. is experiencing a housing affordability crisis. In Boise alone, 77% of the need for housing represents buyers who make below the area median income. University of Idaho is working on several solutions to tackle this problem head-on. 

From 3D printing building materials to laser etching house plans directly onto subflooring, Vandals are coming up with sustainable solutions to address the affordable housing issues the state and the country are currently facing. These approaches not only impact the Gem State, but the country as a whole. 

Idaho Today’s Mellisa Paul talks with Chandra Zenner Ford, University of Idaho’s Boise CEO about the mutli-angle approach the university is taking to not only address needs now, but plant seeds for graduating students to be better educated and equipped to find solutions in the future and beyond.
