Update: Missing Nampa woman found

Police said she was located in a remote area in Canyon County and was taken to the hospital.

NAMPA, Idaho — A woman who had been missing since Dec. 5. was found in a rural area of Canyon County on Saturday, Dec. 9 around 11:40 am by the Canyon County Sheriff's Office (CCSO). The office received a call from two men who found a car near Map Rock Rd and Rim Rd near Melba.

The woman's car had fallen down a canyon wall and she was found by responders 40 feet below in a ravine. Emergency rescuers found her alert and conscious and the 72-year-old woman was taken to the hospital.

"CCSO began working with Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue on a plan to rescue her. Multiple other agencies — Air St. Luke's, Nampa Police Department, Upper Deer Flat Fire, Melba Fire, Canyon County Paramedics, and Idaho Fish & Game — were also dispatched to the scene to assist. Idaho Helicopter was also contacted and was prepared to send a helicopter to assist with the rescue operation, but it was determined that the quickest way to reach her would be on foot," a news release stated.

The woman had not been in contact with her family after Dec. 5. Police said she was running errands in Nampa but may have gone to Kuna or Melba.

"The medics who evaluated her on scene believe that she had been there for at least a couple of days, and more than likely since Tuesday when her family last had contact with her. It's truly a miracle, and I'm hopeful that she makes a full recovery. I want to thank all of the agencies who assisted us today," the CCSO stated.

The woman is being treated at the hospital and, according to CCSO, her family has asked for privacy at this time.
