City of Boise leaf collections closing Monday

Leaf collection sites will close Dec. 11, but residents can still take leaves to the landfill until Dec. 16.

BOISE, Idaho — The City of Trees produces a lot of leaves, and time is running out for homeowners wanting to dispose of their leaves due to leaf collection sites around Boise as they are closing soon.

Residents still raking their leaves can drop off leaves and leaf bags at seven collection sites around Boise through Monday, Dec. 11, at sunset, said the news release.

After the leaf collection sites close, yard waste can still be taken out weekly to the curb in compost bins, or at the up with up to 10 leaf bags per week. The city also states that leaves can also be taken to the Ada County Landfill until Dec. 16.

Republic Services said nearly 90 tons of leaves were collected at the leaf collection sites in November. The leaves were taken to the city's compost facility, where the leaves were returned as free compost at two give-back stations, so residents can compost to help local soil health, the release said.
