Make way - the downtown Boise holiday tree is being transported on Nov. 13

BOISE, Idaho — Boise Parks and Recreation's Community Forestry Unit announced their annual plan to cut and move a tree to the Grove Plaza for the holidays. The tree is being donated to the City of Boise and Downtown Boise Association for display throughout the holiday season.

Parks and Recreation will cut down the 2023 Christmas tree Monday morning and begin its relocation to downtown Boise.

The 35-foot-tall spruce will be removed via crane from a private residence and loaded onto a flatbed truck for the move.

The tree is expected to arrive at the Grove Plaza by 10:30 a.m. on Monday.

Once it arrives at the Grove Plaza, parks and recreation team members will spend the next week decorating the holiday tree with thousands of lights. Surrounding the tree this year is the new "Glide on the Grove" skating rink.

The annual Downtown Boise Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 24.
