3 parks in Boise allow off-leash dogs this season

With fall activities winding down, it's time to bring the pups to the park.

BOISE, Idaho — The City of Boise released its list of off-leash dog parks for the upcoming winter.

This seasonal program allows certain parks to have off leash dogs during the cooler months, when park activity is a bit slower. With fall activities coming to a close, the parks open up in November to four legged friends.

The three parks that are utilizing this program are: Ann Morrison Park, Optimist Youth Sports Complex and Simplot Sports Complex

Two of the parks, Ann Morrison and Optimist Youth Sports Complex, open for off-leash dogs on Nov. 1, with Simplot Sports Complex opening Nov. 21.

At Ann Morrison Park, Together Treasure Valley Dog Island will remain open throughout the winter, but users should be aware that seasonal emptying of the ponds are underway. Signs will be posted at the park to warn users of unsafe ice areas as our temperatures drop this winter.

All areas of the three parks are available from sunrise to sunset. The city asks that dog owners be mindful of their pets, and clean up after their pets.

Now is also a great time to obtain or renew an animal license for your dog.

Ann Morrison and Optimist Youth Sports Complex off leash program closes on Feb. 28th, and Simplot Sports Complex closes on Feb. 15th.
