BOISE, Idaho — President Joe Biden has ordered the lowering of the flags across the nation to half-staff immediately to honor the victims of the Maine shooting that took place on Oct. 25. The flag should be flown at half-staff until Monday, Oct. 30.
The order from the President overlaps with an existing half-staff directive that Governor Brad Little put in place to honor Post Falls Police Officer Nicholas McDaniel, 36, who died while on duty on Oct. 22.
In light of the Maine victims, Gov. Little is updating the flag directive to end at sunset on Monday, Oct. 30 per the President's directive.
In a press conference Thursday morning, Maine Gov. Janet Mills and Maine State Police, informed the public that 18 were killed, and 13 injured in the shootings. The shootings took place four miles apart, at a bowling alley and a restaurant, in Lewiston, Maine.
The suspect, Robert Card, is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, said authorities at the press conference.
Police are asking for any information regarding this incident.
