After three seasons of investigating the mysterious and unexplained, 'The Proof Is Out There' returned to the HISTORY Channel in October 2023, with all new episodes looking at everything from UFOs to Bigfoot. Veteran journalist Tony Harris spoke with Mellisa Paul and April Neale to discuss life's unexplained mysteries.
"The Proof Is Out There," Hosted by Tony Harris, is a non-fiction series that takes an in-depth look at some of the most incredible and thought-provoking videos of unexplained phenomena and mysterious must-see moments.
The films and audio sent in are crowdsourced. Rather than just showing the mysterious footage, the show asks experts to analyze it. After much discussion, a verdict is rendered by a team of experts, including Idaho's own Dr. Jeff Meldrum, a go-to for all things Bigfoot.
Mellisa Paul is no stranger to Dr. Meldrum and has spoken to him about the Gem State's preoccupation with the paranormal and Bigfoot especially; rumor has it we have some of the most sightings.
As it is the Halloween season, Harris reflected on some of the more enigmatic films he has seen and shared with "Idaho Today" that the mysteries of the deep ocean beds intrigue him the most these days.
"We have a panel of experts," Harris told Paul. "Theoretical physicists, audio and video forensic analysts who look at the material and decide whether it's real, not faked, not a hoax, because there's much of that going on. Then they render a verdict, yet we must question everything as journalists."
The series leans heavily on the paranormal "greatest hits" like Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and the Loch Ness Monster. But today, in Congressional hearings about sightings, the Defense Department and high-ranking officials are spilling the beans on what was once top secret, highly classified documents.
Each one-hour episode explores and analyzes the full story of the irregularity, from the latest UFO video leak from the Department of Homeland Security to an extinct species caught on camera to mysterious stone carvings in Japan and much more. Harris, alongside a team of top experts, evaluates each video to get to the bottom of what's real, what's fake, and all that exists in between.
