NEW PLYMOUTH, Idaho — Idaho State Police are reporting a three-vehicle crash that happened near New Plymouth on I-84 Sunday, Oct. 22 around 5:30 a.m. near milepost 18.5. Two people were taken to the hospital.

Police said a 30-year-old man from Caldwell driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue was stopped on the shoulder of westbound I-84.

"While attempting to re-enter traffic, the Rogue was struck by a 2021 Cascadia Freightliner semi, driven by a 48-year-old male from Candler, North Carolina. The Cascadia was also occupied by a 58-year-old male from Hickory, North Carolina. A 2020 Freightliner tractor trailer, pulled off to the right shoulder, to avoid the collision with the other two vehicles and slid down the embankment and onto its side. The 2020 freightliner was being driven by a 49-year-old male from Garner, North Carolina," a news release stated.

The two people in the Cascadia semi were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
