Favre Fire east of Midvale contained and controlled

The fire has burned more than 2,400 acres east of Midvale, about 6 miles north of Crane Creek Reservoir.

MIDVALE, Idaho — A wildfire that spread quickly Wednesday evening east of Midvale and about 6 miles north of Crane Creek Reservoir was declared contained at noon Thursday, and controlled Thursday night.

The Bureau of Land Management Idaho has been assisting several local fire departments with the Favre Fire in Washington County. It was estimated at 1,500 acres Wednesday. After mapping Thursday, the BLM indicated it had burned 2,431 acres.

Along with firefighters from the BLM and Midvale Fire Protection District, crews with the Payette National Forest, Weiser Rural Fire, Council Fire Department, Cambridge Fire Protection District and Weiser River RFPA responded when the fire was first reported, at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

BLM Idaho said it dispatched two fire engines, two battalions and a dozer to the scene.

The fire is no longer threatening structures.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

In a Twitter post, the National Weather Service in Boise said the smoke plume from the Farve Fire moved into the Treasure Valley Wednesday night and was visible at the airport in Caldwell.
