BOISE, Idaho — The Boise State women's soccer team won the Mountain West Conference Championship Saturday afternoon at the Boas Soccer Complex, beating the San Diego State Aztecs 2-0.

This is the Broncos' first Mountain West Conference title in program history and comes ten years and a day after they won their first-ever conference championship when they were a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

Boise State was led by senior forward Raimee Sherle, a 2016 graduate of Rocky Mountain, and senior midfielder McKenna Kynett.

Sherle scored the Broncos' first goal at 16:02, thanks to an assist by senior midfielder Emily Curry.

The Broncos would keep a 1-0 lead at halftime over the Aztecs.

Kynett would score in the 50th minute off a corner kick by Sherle.

Junior forward Aubree Chatterton, a Bishop Kelly High School grad, tapped the ball to Kynett's to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Smith, a Caldwell High School grad, recorded her twelfth shut-out of the year, a school record.

With the Conference Championship, the team has earned an automatic bid for the 2019 NCAA Women's College Cup.

The bracket for the tournament will be unveiled on Monday.

Boise State ended the regular season 18-4 and 8-3 in conference play, their best season in school history.
