Tuesday, August 11

5:14 p.m. - Idaho adds 610 confirmed and probable cases, Benawah County records its first death

610 confirmed and probable cases were reported Tuesday across the state of Idaho. 540 confirmed cases and 70 probable cases were added bringing the total confirmed and probable cases across the state to 25,595.

Butte reported its first confirmed coronavirus case, leaving Lewis County as the only county in Idaho without a confirmed case.

Nine new deaths were reported, bringing the total deaths to 248. Canyon County reported 3 new deaths while Ada and Kootenai each reported two, and Payette and Benewah each reported one. This is Benewah's first reported coronavirus death to date.

Monday, August 10

5:37 p.m. - Idaho adds nearly 400 confirmed cases, nearly 2/3s are in Ada and Canyon counties

The Gem State added 397 confirmed and 27 probable cases of the coronavirus on Monday, based on public data released by the state and public health districts. Idaho has 23,589 confirmed cases and 25,100 confirmed and probable cases.

Ada County added new 194 cases and Canyon County reported 90 new cases on Monday.

Two new deaths were reported in Ada County, bringing the state's death toll from the pandemic to 239.

2:51 p.m. - New crisis counseling hotline launched by Idaho Department of Health and Welfare

A new crisis hotline, COVID Help Now Line, is now live, accepting calls from needing help with their stress or anxiety about the pandemic. The hotline is a joint project between the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and the Idaho Office of Emergency Management.

The COVID Help Line (call or text 986-867-1073 or call toll-free at 866-947-5186) is staffed by trained crisis counselors who will help access the situation with the caller and offer coping mechanisms that could help reduce their stress.

According to the state, "COVID Help Now responders provide emotional support and aid for immediate crisis needs by connecting callers with resources in their own communities. The COVID Help Now Line is anonymous. Responders do not classify, label, or diagnose people, and no case records are taken."

The line is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. Staff may return any calls made outside of business hours the following day.

Sunday, August 9

5:11 p.m. - Idaho reports less than 200 new cases, two new deaths

The Gem State, based on data published by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, added 182 confirmed and 6 probable cases of the coronavirus in the state. The state also added two new deaths, one in Bonneville and Owyhee counties, which brings Idaho's death toll to 237.

Presumed recoveries jumped by over 200, from 8,921 on Saturday to 9,157 on Sunday.

The state's 14-day average of new cases dropped from 476 on Saturday to 465 on Sunday.

Saturday, August 8

5:48 p.m. - Idaho passes 23,000 confirmed cases, 4 new deaths in Ada County

The Gem State's health department reported 523 new confirmed and 28 new probable cases of the coronavirus in the state. Idaho's total number of COVID-19 cases is now 24,495, with 23,010 confirmed cases.

Idaho reported five new deaths, four were in Ada County and one in Kootenai County, bringing the state's death toll to 235.

Recoveries continued to climb, with 8,921 cases to have presumed to have recovered, since the pandemic began.
