Karcher Road overpass in Nampa opens 2 months early

The original overpass, which was built in 1966, was torn down to make room for the I-84 expansion.

NAMPA, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Departement announced that the Karcher Road overpass opened two months ahead of schedule at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Karcher Road was closed for seven months while crews tore down the overpass, which was originally built in 1966.

The overpass was rebuilt to make room for additional lanes on Interstate 84 in Nampa. The project was just one part of a larger project to expand I-84 in Canyon County.

According to ITD, crews will continue putting the finishing touches on the overpass for the next several months.
