ONTARIO - A 23-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the stabbing of another man in Ontario this past weekend, police said.

Ontario police arrested Adam Ramos at around 4 p.m. at an Ontario-area home. He was booked into the Malheur County Jail and charged with attempted murder, assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

John Eastis, 43, of Weiser was still in critical condition Wednesday after Sunday's stabbing.

Officers responded just after 8:30 a.m. to a report of a man on a sidewalk in the 500 block of SE 5th Avenue, near Lanterman-Kiwanis Park. When they arrived, they found Eastis collapsed on a sidewalk with multiple stab wounds.

He was transported to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario and was later flown to a Boise hospital.

Police on Wednesday said Eastis and Ramos know each other. The investigation is ongoing.
