Driver killed in violent Ustick Road crash identified

Police say the man veered into oncoming traffic moments before the collision.

MERIDIAN -- The Ada County Coroner's Office has released the name of a man who died in a head-on wreck on Ustick Road Tuesday.

Lawrence "Larry" Lee Morton Jr., 65, died from blunt force trauma, the coroner determined.

The deadly crash happened at about 9:55 a.m. between Eagle Road and Locust Grove Road.

Meridian Police said the preliminary investigation shows Morton was driving west in a Ford Taurus when he crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic. His car struck an eastbound Dodge Avenger head-on.
