Boise High grad takes over Yote men's basketball program

Colby Blaine will be introduced as the Yotes new head basketball coach Tuesday morning.

CALDWELL -- Boise High graduate Colby Blaine is taking over at the College of Idaho.

Following the resignation of former head coach Scott Garson on Monday, the school introduced Blaine as the Yotes new head basketball coach on Tuesday morning.

Blaine spent the last four seasons as the top assistant to Garson. During his time in Caldwell, the Yotes compiled a record of 101-36 and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament three times.

Prior to his time at the College of Idaho, Blaine spent five years at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. He helped guide the Golden Eagles to three Region 18 titles and the 2011 NJCAA National Championship. Blaine also served as the academic coordinator at CSI. Under his watch, the team had a 100-percent graduation rate for student-athletes that competed two years.

Blaine graduated from Boise High School in 2005. He will overseas a roster that features as many as nine players that attended a high school in the state of Idaho.

Garson leaves after five seasons in Caldwell. The Yotes went to a Final Four, made three NAIA National Tournament appearances and posted an overall record of 129-42 during his tenure as head coach.

Garson announced that he accepted an offer to become an assistant coach at Santa Clara, on Monday.
