A Nampa man is in jail on an aggravated battery charge after a stabbing in downtown Boise.

Boise Police officers responded to a fight just after 12:30 a.m. Saturday on South 6th Street, near Main Street. They found one person with injuries described as "life-threatening."

Ada County Paramedics took the victim to the hospital. The victim's name and condition have not been released.

After investigating and getting a description from witnesses, officers found 22-year-old Jeffrey Redmond sitting in a car near the scene, and took him into custody.

The Boise Police Dept. says a preliminary investigation shows that Redmond was arguing with a woman inside a car when the victim and another man approached Redmond, and a verbal argument turned into a fight. Police say Redmond pulled a knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing.

Redmond is now being held in the Ada County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
