Flows on the Boise River are being increased this week.

BOISE - Warmer weather means the reservoir system that feeds the Boise River is quickly filling up.

So water managers are releasing more water to make room.

Currently, the Boise River is running at about 4,500 cubic feet per second. That's an increase of nearly 2,000 CFS from just a week ago.

But those flows are still significantly below flood stage, although some low-lying areas along the Greenbelt are reporting water over the path in places.

At this time last year, we were seeing major flooding all along the Boise River.

Water managers say the gradual releases this week will help prevent flooding later in the spring.
