MERIDIAN - KTVB on Tuesday got a sneak peek inside the new South Meridian Family YMCA, which is being built at the corner of Eagle and Amity roads.
The new YMCA will be part of a 22-acre campus called "The Hill'" and it will be connected to Hillsdale Elementary and surrounded by a city park.
An indoor aquatic center and library are also planned for the site.
"The great thing about it is everybody shared in the cost of developing the site," Treasure Valley Family YMCA President and CEO David Duro said. "We shared in the construction costs. we didn't duplicate what the school might build or what the Y needed. If both of us needed it, we figured out a way to share."
The new Y is the product of a multi-year capital fundraising campaign. The Treasure Valley Family YMCA raised the $18.5 million needed to open the building debt free.
