Hewlett-Packard park now open to the public

Sen. Fred Martin says the state will improve public access to the park.

BOISE -- An exciting announcement was made today regarding the former Hewlett-Packard park.

State Sen. Fred Martin of District 15 in Ada County announced that the state of Idaho will improve its public access.

The park is located on the south side of the former HP grounds and was formerly owned by Hewlett-Packard but has since been purchased by the state of Idaho and now is public land.

A group of Boise runners and constituents from Sen. Martin's district asked about gaining access, which was previously closed off by a gate accessing HP's private property.

The park also includes a bike path, gazebo, fountains and an area for baseball and soccer.
