MERIDIAN -- A woman is in custody after police say she stabbed her boyfriend, critically injuring him, at a Meridian motel Wednesday.

Rebecca Lee Cook, 34, of Pleasant View, Utah, is facing a felony aggravated battery charge.

Police say the attack happened at at about 5:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Meridian Road. Officers arrived to find the victim, a 34-year-old man, with a life-threatening stab wound to his chest.

The officers immediately began life-saving measures, and the man was rushed to a Boise hospital, where he underwent surgery. The victim is currently in the intensive care unit.

Police say Cook used a switchblade-style knife to stab her boyfriend. No motive was given in the attack.

She was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail, and is set to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

If convicted of aggravated battery, Cook faces up to 15 years in prison.
