Pickup crashes into power pole in Boise; police seeking driver

The driver left the scene, heading north on Cole from Northview. No injuries were reported, but more than a thousand Idaho Power customers lost electricity service.

BOISE -- More than 1,400 homes and businesses lost power after a crash that occurred Saturday night in the area of Cole Road and Northview Street.

An Ada County dispatcher confirms that a pickup hit a power pole shortly before 10 p.m. Someone who lives in the neighborhood tells KTVB that the power pole behind the pole that was hit was also damaged.

The driver left the scene. Police are looking for a white pickup with front-end damage, possibly a Dodge. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ada County dispatch non-emergency number at (208) 377-6790.

There are no reports of injuries.

Idaho Power has sent a crew to repair the broken pole, and estimates that service will be restored to everyone by 2 a.m. Sunday.
