Bogus Basin unveils new terrain park

A new pop-up style terrain park has been built at Bogus but won't be open to the public until Saturday.

BOISE - Officials at Bogus Basin have some exciting news for skiers and boarders!

Not only did the mountain get 11 inches of fresh powder since yesterday, but they are unveiling a new terrain park!

It's up and running but not open to the public until this weekend.

"They come out of nowhere, it’s kind of like a flash mob snowboard event if you will," says Krush Kulesza, owner Snowboy Productions.

Kulesza collaborated with Bogus Basin to create this pop-up style terrain park.

Since the beginning of this week, the course has been exclusive.

"We have a bunch of riders invited from all over North America, different photographers and filmers, and they all know what's going on but the general public doesn't know what's happening," explains Kulesza.

"I have always heard of Bogus, I'm not from here but I heard a lot of great things, for it to be like this and all these sick riders out here, it’s awesome," exclaims a snowboarder who rides by.

Kulesza say the course is designed with a skateboard feel to it.

"We're kind of known for doing a lot of skate bowl features, skate park type of features, flowy, not just your traditional linear jumps, rails, jumps, rails," explains Kulesza.

"We got a lot of different stuff like t-boxes, down rails, quads, down flat down flat, we got barrels, hips all kinds of fun stuff," says snowboarder Julian Gluck.

Skiers and boarders invited to this private opening say the course's exclusivity has created a lot of hype for anxious onlookers eager to ride it.

"In anything you can’t do or are not allowed to, you kind of want to do it more. It gives them something to look forward to, it’s a push," says snowboarder Jill Perkins.

And the park offers features for both intermediate and the most advanced skiers and boarders.

After Saturday, it’s up to Bogus officials and Mother Nature how long the park will stay open.
