CALDWELL -- The second of two former Canyon County Jail deputies accused of plotting to have an inmate attacked by gang members was arraigned in court Friday morning.
Corey Weathermon, 46, is currently out on bond. He is facing a felony charge of aiding and abetting criminal solicitation to commit a crime.
Prosecutors say Weathermon, along with 23-year-old Kade McConnell, targeted the inmate in October after he injured a fellow guard in an escape attempt. The men are accused of leaking details about the inmate's sexual abuse of a child charges to a gang member also held in the jail.
Prosecutor Shelley Akamatsu said at McConnell's hearing last month that he asked the gang member to "take care of it," referring to carrying out an assault on the other inmate.
The alleged plot fell apart after other staff at the jail overheard inmates talking about the planned attack. Weathermon and McConnell were fired from the jail the same month and charged criminally in January.
If convicted, both could face up to 15 years in prison. Weathermon and McConnell are due back in court March 20.
