PAYETTE -- Seven people were taken to the hospital after a three-car pileup near Payette Thursday night.
According to Idaho State Police, the crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. on Highway 52, four miles east of Payette.
Police say 35-year-old Kristin Robinette of Payette was driving west in a Nissan Sentra when she began to turn left into a rest area. As she turned across traffic, Robinette hit an oncoming Ford Ranger driven by 33-year-old Christopher Parks of Payette.
Parks swerved onto the right shoulder, then overcorrected into the westbound lanes where he hit a Toyota Camry that had been driving behind Robinette's Nissan. ISP identified the driver of the Toyota as 23-year-old Shedrick Ofilas of Payette.
Robinette, Ofilas, and three people riding in Ofilas' car - 31-year-old Ernesto Corpuz, 31-year-old Melanie Corpuz, and 57-year-old Gloria De Vera, all of California - were taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Clinic in Fruitland.
Parks and a fourth passenger in Ofilas' car, 62-year-old Romulo De Vera of California, were airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
Police say Robinette and her passenger, 29-year-old Levi Robinette, were wearing their seatbelts when the crash happened, but Parks was not. It's not clear whether any of the occupants of the Toyota were buckled in.
The crash blocked the highway for nearly three hours.
