Boise hopes to annex land for new park

The Boise City Council will be looking at annexing more than 50 acres of property that is west of Warm Springs Avenue and just north of Highway 21.

A new park could be coming to Boise if the city can get the land.

At its meeting Tuesday, the City Council will be looking at annexing more than 50 acres of property that is west of Warm Springs Avenue and just north of Highway 21.

This started early last year. According to the city, a donor went to Boise Parks and Recreation and said they wanted to purchase this land and gift it to the city, so it could be made into a park.

"Out on the east side of town we're looking for more opportunities to create more parks and that kind of thing. We have lots of residential areas in that area and if it’s a gift coming forward that's even better," city spokesman Mike Journee said.

There are no plans or designs for a new park yet. This is still just a concept.

If all goes as planned, only the land would be the gift. The city would have to cover the costs to build a park.
