MERIDIAN -- Mountain View High School sophomore Lexy Halladay is going to need a bigger trophy case.
Halladay won her second consecutive 5A individual state cross country title last fall, crossing the finish line in 17:50.44, nearly 16 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
What's even more impressive? Halladay did not lose to an in-state opponent in 2017.
Halladay finished second at the Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regional championships and 40th at the NXN finals.
In June, Halladay broke the national freshman mile record at the Adidas Boost Boston Games with a time of 4:41.80.
The previous record, 4:42.00, was set in 1973 by Mary Decker
This is Halladay's third overall Gatorade award. She is also the reigning Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year.
