Mountain View's Halladay wins Gatorade XC Runner of the Year... Again

Mountain View High School sophomore Lexy Halladay is going to need a bigger trophy case.
Lake Hazel Middle School's Lexy Halladay finsihed 10th in the girls one mile run. Halladay was the youngest in her field, beating high school juniors and seniors.

MERIDIAN -- Mountain View High School sophomore Lexy Halladay is going to need a bigger trophy case.

Halladay won her second consecutive 5A individual state cross country title last fall, crossing the finish line in 17:50.44, nearly 16 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

What's even more impressive? Halladay did not lose to an in-state opponent in 2017.

Halladay finished second at the Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regional championships and 40th at the NXN finals.

In June, Halladay broke the national freshman mile record at the Adidas Boost Boston Games with a time of 4:41.80.

The previous record, 4:42.00, was set in 1973 by Mary Decker

This is Halladay's third overall Gatorade award. She is also the reigning Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year.
