Golf ball vandalism spree leaves windows smashed in north Boise

The suspects targeted homes and cars, causing thousands of dollars in damage, police say.
There is now a hole in the window of this Boise home.

Police are searching for whoever threw or launched golf balls at cars and homes in north Boise Friday night, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

Investigators say they found about two dozen golf balls, which had been used to break windows and damage property.

“It was about 9:30 p.m., I was reading a book in bed and I heard a crash and I thought we had been egged but then Chris ran out and said they broke our window,” recalls Suzanne Ennis, whose window was shattered.

The suspects targeted homes on West Ranch Road, East Hearthstone Drive, West Villa Norte Street, East Braemere Road, South Sweetgrass Way, and East Warm Springs Avenue, police said.

“He was standing through the (vehicle) sunroof, there were several boys, and what I heard from other accounts he was hurling balls through a sling shot and everybody has found the yellow range balls in their yard,” recalls Ennis.

Although officers have worked to identify all the victims, anyone in the area who discovers similar damage is urged to contact the Boise Police Department.

The suspects have not been identified. Anyone with information should call dispatch at 208-377-6790 or Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
