‘Fallen’ documentary aims to spark conversation about humanizing police

The award-winning documentary is being shown in Boise Friday.

It has been 20 years since a Boise Police officer was shot and killed in the line of duty.

Mark Stall died in September of 1997.

It's something that does not fall in line with national statistics.

Shockingly, a member of law enforcement is killed on the job in this country every 53 hours.

That is the subject of a new award-winning documentary titled "Fallen."

It is a film about the job and the dangers that face our men and women in blue every day.

It comes out at a time when, in many places, there is an us versus them mentality when talking about law enforcement and citizens.

Something, local police say is creeping into the fabric of our society right here in Idaho.

They are hoping this film will spark a conversation that will lead to an "us with them" point of view.

Boise Police detective Brian Holland, a 13-year member of the department, and Veronique Borbonus, a local mother, both appeared on the News at Four Tuesday to talk about a benefit for injured officers and their families. Watch the video with this story to see the full interview.

There will be two special showing this Friday at the Egyptian Theater in Boise.

One at 4 p.m. is for all ages. A second showing at 8 p.m. is for those 21 and older.
