Thousands of people gathered outside the Statehouse Sunday morning for a rally on the anniversary of last year's Women's March on Idaho.
Organizers said the idea was to celebrate the successes that happened in the past year, but also to emphasize that there is still a lot to fight for.
"All people are people," one woman said. "No matter their color, no matter their age, their gender. People are people."
Messages of equality and women's empowerment were expressed through speeches, visual arts and music.
"Today we are making our voices heard again because as far as we have come we still have so far to go," one speaker told the crowd. "Every single voice has a place in our society because every single person has a place in our society."
The event was part of a growing international movement that saw rallies and marches in cities across the country and around the world this weekend.
Unique to Idaho's event, organizers created a book full of photos from last year's march.
"It's designed to be a yearbook," said Laura DeLaney, co-owner of Rediscovered Books. "You can sign things and write notes and have memories."
All of the money raised from the sales of those books and extra money that is donated will be given to the women's and children's alliance.
